Hello, Welcome! नमस्तें
My name is Nila Pradhananga . I am a  Ph.D. Candidate at Louisiana State University, working under the mentorship of Dr. Denise Holston and Dr. Bailey Houghtaling.
I completed my Bachelor’s in Nutrition from McNeese State University in Louisiana and worked as a clinical Nutrition staff at Baptist Health South Florida following graduation.
My current graduate research interest focuses on food and physical activity policy, systems, and environments (PSEs) and their impact on rural communities. My research interest lies in learning how national, local, or state policies and various environmental and systematic changes shape the community's food and physical environment and exploring the idea of development, sustainability, and maintenance of these PSEs.

I firmly believe that focusing on systems, environment, and public policy change within organizations and community levels has a lot to factor into the complex phenomena beyond personal decisions and can strongly influence dietary patterns, physical activity, and food choices.
More about me
Mixed Methods Research : I am currently continuing my research interests and focus using mixed method approach and implementation science lens to inform policy, systems, and environmental change strategies to improve public health. I am involved in research related to policy evaluation and sustainability and approaches to learn more on food and physical activity environments and their impact in rural communities.
Leadership and Engagement : I am a firm believer of team-based learning and always liked working in group settings, whether it be in a research group or working as a governing board for a student organization at my home institutions. Despite any positions or relationship in a group, I believe working to reach a common goal is a constant source of motivation to move forward for the whole team.
Science Communication : As a PhD student and a researcher in public health nutrition field, I believe in research to practice approach and advocate of scicomm to help relay research findings in order to bring awareness and necessary change, by informing public as well as policy makers through effective science communication skills.
